If your thirst for adventure takes you off paved roads and a classic teardrop trailer isn’t enough, than an off-road capable trailer is for you, These little trailers have all the strength you need with all the comforts you want.
Like any RV there is a need and a want, for my family of 5 we need a large RV, but I want something that will allow me to sleep comfortably anywhere, in comes the incredibly rugged all terrain teardrop trailer. With a proper vehicle you can get this just about anywhere, I have seen Jeeps several miles deep into mountain ranges and places you can only access with a 4 wheel drive vehicle with a small trailer in tow. Imagine being able to camp anywhere for an extended period of time without having to worry about shelter.
What you need to know
Having a fully off-road capable trailer means you need an off road vehicle to get you there. These trailers are usually very light, weighing in at an average weight of 1,200 lbs, and have a tongue weight of approx 150 lbs. With that being said, just about anything can pull this little treasure, but getting to those extreme places would require you to have an extreme vehicle.
Benefits of a light weight rugged tear drop trailer
- Large over-sized tires to help you navigate harsh terrain
- Larger stronger suspension than regular trailers
- Steel square tube frame for increased rigidity
- Hard steel skin to protect against trees and rocks while on the trail
- Ability to carry more gear to your camp site
Teardrop trailers by design are usually very small measuring an average of 5 ft wide, 4 ft tall, and about 8 ft long. Being small and nimble you can take your little home on wheels up even the tightest trails. As you can see in the pictures above they are incredibly versatile and can make your camping or hunting trip a breeze, you even get a fully functional kitchen located (normally) in the rear hatch. On the inside you get a standard bed, overhead storage and some even come with a TV.
Like anything off road your imagination is your only limit to how to equip your rig. Options seemingly are endless from hidden compartments to light bars, to expandable awnings. if you can dream it, you can find it.
RVing is different for everyone, some want to enjoy the trip, some want to enjoy the stay and some want both, no matter where you are in your research stages of RVing you will soon find out traveling is all about the new things you can see, and do. With an off-road trailer you can go pretty much anywhere, only limited by your imagination. No matter where you want to go, this will help you enjoy your stay, imagine taking this to your favorite stream in the mountains and waking up with the flowing water just out the window. A great choice for the adventurer.
